FBI searched Trump’s mansion for nuclear weapons documents

Sources close to the investigation specified, in statements to the US newspaper “The Washington Post”, that the searches carried out by FBI agents earlier this week at Donald Trump’s home in Florida were intended to find documents with information about nuclear weapons.

The former US president reportedly took the documents to the unofficial residence when he lost the election to Joe Biden. However, these were not the only documents to be diverted by the republican. By early 2021, the National Archives and Records Administration had removed at least 15 boxes of material belonging to the White House from the magnate’s residence.

According to the FBI, as long as documents containing nuclear weapons information are not in the possession of the National Archives, there is a heightened risk to national security, especially if they fall into “the wrong hands”. Still, it was unclear whether these documents contain information about national weapons or those of another US allied country.
