Lisbon Book Fair returns to Parque Eduardo VII with a new concept

This year’s edition (between August 25 and September 11) focuses on the sustainability of exhibitors and stands, and on promoting the use of public transport.

The 92nd edition of the Lisbon Book Fair returns to Parque Eduardo VII from August 25 to September 11. This is the largest edition ever, with 340 pavilions for 140 participants.

The new concept of the fair is reflected in new exhibitors built using sustainable materials, also ensuring accessibility for people with reduced mobility, reflecting the commitment of the Portuguese Association of Publishers and Booksellers (APEL) with sustainability and the environment.

Sustainability is the keyword of this edition and the concern is reflected not only in the materials used, but also in the transportation to the fair.

“All the equipment is made with 100% recyclable materials, from the exhibitors, the main auditorium, and the squares where the authors will be signing autographs,” explains the president of APEL. “We have made a partnership with EMEL, to have as official transportation of the fair the GIRA bicycle platform”, giving continuity to the promotion of the use of public transportation, as a means to travel to the event.

After 2020 and 2021, the organization expects the adhesion to be equal or higher than the pre-pandemic years. “This is the first fair after 2019, without any kind of restrictions and the adhesion of publishers and booksellers has exceeded our expectations,” says Pedro Sobral.
