A few days after the election of Barack Obama in 2008, President George W. Bush called to congratulate the Democrat on his historic victory. Whether “for the respect he had for the institution” or for “pure and simple decency”, Bush did everything to help Obama in the transition, and the Republican’s daughters even reorganized his agenda to take Obama’s daughters on a tour of “ fun parts ”of the White House.

When former President Obama describes in his new book the civility with which Bush helped him in the transition, it is inevitable not to think about the attitudes of the current US president, Donald Trump, who refuses to admit defeat in the election and hinders the transfer of power for President-elect Joe Biden.
