Angola and EU consider cooperation in Defense

Delegations from Angola and the European Union held, on Tuesday, a first discussion on the different areas of interest for possible structured cooperation in the area of ​​defense and security.

The intention is contained in the joint Declaration, produced at the end of the 5th Ministerial Meeting of the Joint Way Angola – European Union, held by videoconference. The Joint Angola-European Union Path is a structure of dialogue and cooperation based on common interests and shared values.

According to the document, the parties stated their intention to examine the possibility of establishing a partnership in the area of ​​defense and security. “A first step would be the identification of priorities of mutual interest, through consultations at the technical level, particularly in concrete areas for cooperation, starting from the good example of ongoing cooperation in matters of maritime security”, the document states.
