For many European naturists, and tens of thousands of swingers among them, Cap d’Agde in France has become a traditional summer destination. But an outbreak of coronavirus in the region has brought uncomfortable attention to the resort’s alternative lifestyle
France recorded a peak of 7,000 new confirmed cases in one day in late August. This was the biggest daily increase since March. By the beginning of September, France had recorded a total of more than 320,000 cases and more than 30,000 deaths.
Despite the exponential increase in cases, the numbers of hospitalizations and daily deaths have remained relatively stable, according to the government, since the young people least vulnerable to the disease are the majority of the newly infected ones. The southern area of Hérault, and Cap d’Agde in particular, has seen some of the greatest increases in infection. The region of the largest naturist resort in Europe focuses on hedonism.
