Bishop of Pemba warns: “We live on the run without knowing where”

“We have been suffering for three years without knowing why we are being attacked. Three years ago everything changed in our lives. We cry with pain and sadness. We live on the run without knowing where ”, warns Bishop of Pemba, in Mozambique, Dom Luiz Fernando Lisboa, to describe the situation experienced by the population of Cabo Delgado, in the face of the terrorist attacks that the region has been targeted.

According to Dom Fernando told Vatican News, the Government has acted through the presence of military personnel in the area, but the group of aggressors has registered an increase in personnel. “The attackers surrendered the defense forces in several places, stole weapons, cars, food and uniforms. They act in army uniforms and this is very confusing to the population. The population does not know who to trust. The people flee to the bush. The Church tries to support people in some way with food, medicine, clothing and home rebuilding. The Church has been present all this time, seeking to be a testimony of hope to the population. ”
