Friday’s lunar eclipse images

Cátia Carmo

The penumbral eclipse was visible in Europe, Australia, Antarctica, Asia, Africa, eastern South America, southern Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean and Western Pacific Ocean

This Friday the moon was born already eclipsed, around 20h52. The phenomenon is called the penumbral eclipse of the Moon, lasted an hour and 18 minutes and could be observed throughout Portugal.

An eclipse of this kind occurs whenever the Moon enters the shadows of the planet Earth and creates a variation in brightness, which is hardly noticeable on this natural satellite. Scroll through the image gallery at the top of the text to see photographs of this phenomenon.
