Dutch championship is over. No champion, promotions or division descents

The 2019/20 edition of the Dutch championship was officially closed, due to the covid-19 pandemic, and the title of champion, ups and downs was not awarded, announced the Royal Dutch Football Federation (KNVB) in a statement.

After a meeting with the 34 clubs in the I and II leagues in the Netherlands, it was decided to finish the first two stages, making this the first European country to officially conclude the season. Earlier this month, Belgium expressed its intention to end the championship, but ended up reversing the decision.

Ajax and AZ, both with 56 points, shared the leadership of ‘Eredivisie’, when the competition was suspended last month, 26 rounds had elapsed. However, the Amsterdam team had an advantage in goal difference over the Alkmaar team, the first tiebreaker in the competition.
