The conspiracy theory started like this: On January 19, when the covid-19 spread in China, a post on Twitter speculated on a link between the effects of the 5G network and the disease. “Wuhan now has over 5,000 # 5G base stations and will have 50,000 by 2021 – is it a 5G disease or effect?” Said the tweet.
It is not necessary to investigate much to conclude that that tweet is an excessive logical leap. Just live in Portugal, where there is no single 5G antenna in operation. In fact, the Anacom auction that would grant operators licenses to start this new technology for the mobile network was postponed in March. Portugal has Covid-19, but will not have 5G anytime soon.
