The United States and Brazil are advancing on the economic partnership plan agreed by Presidents Donald Trump and Jair Bolsonaro, the office of U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Robert Lighthizer said on Friday (10) after a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Ernesto Araújo.
Lighthizer spoke on Thursday with Araújo and other Brazilian officials following the meeting between Trump and Bolsonaro last month in Florida, the USTR said in a statement.
“They discussed ways to implement the presidents plan to intensify the economic partnership between the two countries. They also agreed to increase and deepen the discussions under the Agreement on Commercial and Economic Cooperation (ATEC),” said the text, noting that the negotiations will continue next week.
