The decision to change the detention regime for Ronaldinho and the former Sporting player was not expected until at least April 13, due to the paralysis of the Paraguayan judicial system, as a measure to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.
Even so, criminal judge Gustavo Amarilla agreed to deal with the fourth attempt by the defense to obtain house arrest for Ronaldinho Gaúcho and his brother and manager, accused of using passports and false identities, in addition to being part of a criminal network for falsifying documents and money laundering.
At the hearing, where prosecutors wore masks, the court was in favor of the player’s defense.
The brothers will continue in preventive detention at a hotel in the city – the Palmaroga hotel. Each one will be in a different room, 104 and 105 respectively.
The Brazilian duo will have permanent police surveillance to prevent them from leaving the country illegally. A Paraguayan company signed the guarantee term as being responsible for any eventually risk.
At the hotel, the brothers will await the course of the investigations and the trial.
