Former Macau Prosecutor Ho Chio Meng's 21-year-sentence in July 2017 became Macau's highest-profile court case of the 2010s. The prosecutor was convicted for fraud, money laundering, abuse of power and criminal association. The trial was held when the anti-corruption campaign launched by President Xi Jinping in mainland China - which has a different legal system from Macau - was at its peak.
