Portugal beats Argentina and becomes the world champion

Portugal defeated Argentina on the penalties this Sunday and won the 16th world title.

This Sunday, Portugal was crowned world champion in roller hockey, 16 years after winning the last world title. Portugal defeated Argentina by 2-1 in the penalty shoot-out, after a 0-0 draw at the end of the match. In the penalty shoot-out, Gonçalo Alves and Hélder Nunes scored for Portugal, while for Argentina, only Nicolia managed to score.

The Portuguese national team won the 16th world title - one less than the record holder, Spain, - and regained a title that the national team didn't win since 2003, in Oliveira de Azeméis. Outside of Portugal, the Portuguese national team had not won a title since 1993, and in Spain, it had only become world champion once, in 1960.
