Michael Rotich, Kenya's athletics team manager during the 2016 Rio Olympics, has been banned for 10 years on charges of being involved in a major corruption scandal

He was given a harsh sentence after asking for a $12,000 bribe (about R$49,000) to help athletes not get caught in drug tests with banned substances.

Rotich was banned by the Ethics Panel of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) after a three-year investigation triggered by a Sunday Times investigation. He was also sentenced to pay a fine of $5,000 (about R$20,400) and $14,000 (approximately R$57,000) in procedural costs.
