Extreme heat and humidity are restraining athletes' performance and leading to a high number of dropouts.
The president of the Portuguese Athletics Federation, Jorge Vieira, considers that it was a mistake to organize the world championship in Doha, Qatar. Extreme humidity and heat are causing many athletes to need medical attention and to give up the competition.
"It was a mistake to have a world championship under these conditions. These are really extreme conditions," says Jorge Vieira, in statements to TSF.
