Vatican presented, on this Thursday, its first sports association, "Athletica Vaticana," a team of priests, nuns and Vatican employees who want to show that sport can be a tool of solidarity.
The association is born out of an agreement with the Italian Olympic Committee and it will be composed of about 70 people with the aim of achieving a "fun race," the undersecretary of the Pontifical Council for Culture and president of Athletica Vatican explained in a press conference.
The protocol will allow "Athletica Vaticana" to participate in the competitions in Italy and also in the rest of Europe. The premiere of the annual race is already scheduled: January 20th, in Rome.
