Mick Schumacher, the son of the seven-times world champion Michael Schumacher, was announced on Saturday as the new member of Ferrari's young driver academy, the Ferrari Driver Academy.
At age 19, Schumi's heir stood out in the lower categories of motoring, especially after having won his first ever one-seater race, the European Formula 3 Championship, in October. At the end of 2018, he was chosen by Italian team Prema Powerteam to compete in the next season of Formula 2.
'I am very happy that Ferrari has entered into a partnership with me and my near future in motor sports will be in red, as part of the Ferrari driver academy and also the Ferrari family. This is a further step in the right direction and I can only benefit from the immense amount of knowledge that exists there,' Schumacher said.
