KTM exercised the option clause for another year of contract with the Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira, announced Saturday, May 4, the Austrian mark on the sidelines of the Spanish Grand Prix of MotoGP in Jerez de la Frontera.
According to KTM, Miguel Oliveira will remain at Tech3 in 2020, as he wished, announced in statements to Lusa on Thursday at the launch of the fourth round of the season in Spain.
"We are extremely happy to announce that we have activated our renewal option with Miguel because he showed in the first races that it is indeed good for us and so there is no reason to wait any longer", explained the boss of the department of competition of the Austrian brand, the German Pit Beirer.
"We are delighted to be able to count on a pilot with the potential he demonstrates for another year," he added.
Miguel Oliveira is the first rider to see his future set for next season, which for Frenchman Hervé Poncharal, owner of the Tech3 team that brings Portuguese to the MotoGP World Championship, "gives the rider more stability."
Miguel Oliveira debuted in the premier class of MotoGP World Championship, in 2019, after eight years in lower categories, where he was runner-up of Moto3 (2015) and Moto2 (2018).
Currently, it occupies the 16th position of the classification, with seven points, after three disputed races.
