Ivory Coast, Russia and Iran qualify for FIBA World Championship

Night of glory for the Ivory Coast with a 69-49 win against Mali, qualifying the 'Elephants' for their first FIBA World Cup since 2010.

The Ivory Coast has joined Angola, Nigeria, Senegal and Tunisia as the continent's ambassadors. Russia, Serbia (Europe), Iran, Japan, Jordan and the Philippines (Asia) have also confirmed their presence, bringing to 29 the number of countries qualified for the 2019 FIBA World Championship, to be held in China from August 31 to September 15. Only three places remain, two from the Americas and one from Europe.

In the African slot, Ivorians qualified on Saturday after the CAR's defeat against Nigeria (59-72), giving the 'Elephants' the best third place among groups E and F.
