Putin says excluding Russia from the Olympics has "political motivation"

Russian president argued that the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) decision to exclude Russia from the Olympic Games for four years is "politically motivated."

"Any punishment must be individual rather than collective," said the Russian head of state, saying he believes Russia's sanction is justified "not due to show a concern with fair sport," but for "political motivation."

For Vladimir Putin, the WADA decision "runs counter to the Olympic Charter," the structuring document of the Olympic Movement and the organization of the Olympic Games.
