Real Madrid's midfielder amassed several awards in 2018.
Croatian midfielder Luka Modric was voted best footballer of 2018 by British newspaper The Guardian, overcoming Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentina's Lionel Messi. The newspaper has published its annual list of the best football players of the year, chosen by 225 experts from 69 countries, and for the first time in six years, the first place was not taken by Ronaldo or Messi.
After winning UEFA's Best Player of the Year, FIFA's 'The Best', and France Football's Ballon d'Or, Modric has also bagged The Guardian's award.
