The designer of the Brazilian National Team's shirt has passed away

Aldyr Garcia Schlee was a Brazilian supporter of Pelotas

Aldyr Garcia Schlee died at the age of 83, due to cancer.

Writer, journalist, designer and teacher Aldyr Garcia Schlee died on Thursday, 15, at age 83, victim of cancer. At only 19 years old, after the defeat of Brazil in the World Cup of 1950, the gaúcho won a contest to design the new shirts for the National Team in 1953.

The creator of the design will be buried this Friday, 16, at the Pelotas Memorial Cemetery Park, in Rio Grande do Sul. Born in Jaguarão, Schlee is also recognized as the author of a vast literary work and has won the Açorianos Literature Prize five times.
