Portugal and Spain study joint application for World Cup 2030

Both Federations will analyze the possibility of a joint application

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) will study the possibility of jointly organize the World Cup 2030, said the FPF in a statement today.

"The Portuguese Football Federation and the Royal Spanish Football Federation have held a series of meetings in recent weeks and confirm that they are going to start together a vast process of analysis on the possibility of submitting a joint candidacy for the organization of the World Cup 2030", can be seen in the note.

In the same note, the FPF stresses that "the governments of both countries are aware of this process and will obviously be crucial in future developments."

FPF's source also said that the president of the organization, Fernando Gomes, has set as an "insurmountable red line" the fact that "not a single stadium" will be built for the event, using instead the investment already done on the occasion of the Euro2004.
