Fla will be paying 15 million reais in wages for Gabigol and almost 64 million for the transfer of the Uruguayan
Gabigol and Arrascaeta are Flamengo's reinforcements for the new season. In a clear investment aimed at winning the Brasileirão, the Rio de Janeiro team spared no expenses to hire two of the most valuable players in the 'Canarinho' championship, who, last year, displayed a great performance with Santos and Cruzeiro, respectively.
Gabigol, a 22-year-old striker, comes on loan from Inter Milan, but Fla will be paying all the salaries, in the order of 15 million reais (3.5 million euros) per year, while the hiring of Arrascaeta, Flamengo also made history, as they had to pay Cruzeiro almost 64 million reais (15 million euros) for the acquisition of the Uruguayan, which makes the transfer of the 24-year old midfielder the most expensive ever in Brazilian football. In addition to the amount involved in the transaction, Arrascaeta also agreed on an annual salary of 18 million reais (4.23 million euros), for a period of five seasons.
In total, these two players will cost Flamengo almost 170 million reais (close to 40 million euros) in salaries and transfer fees, and the amounts could increase if Fla decides to agree on a further loan or the definitive transfer of Gabigol.
But the strong investment for the new season is not over yet, as in the last hours, Flamengo also made a new offer for the central defender of Cruzeiro Dedé, worth 29 million reais (6.8 million euros)
While Arrascaeta has not yet officially confirmed his departure for Flamengo, although the deal is final, Gabigol made a point of speaking as the club's new player in Rio de Janeiro. 'What's up, people? This is Gabriel. I already have the Mantle. I am part of the nation. We stand together!',said Gabigol, wearing the Flamengo shirt, in a video released by the club.
