CAN2019 will be disputed in Egypt.

The next African Cup of Nations will be hosted by Egypt, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced this morning. The competition will take place between June 15 and July 13.

The final race was between Egypt and South Africa, who submitted applications in December after the CAF withdrew Cameroon from the organization of the competetion, after verifying that the country was not able to build the necessary infrastructures and due to the security threats in some parts of the country.

Although South Africa has an extensive network of infrastructures, built when the country hosted the first World Cup in Africa, in 2010, the observers expressed reservations about the low interest of other teams in the South African option.

Egypt also has a number of sporting facilities, although in recent years the participations in local games experienced a number of restrictions due to problems of political instability and security following the Arab Spring revolution and manifestations in Tahir Square.

This year's edition will be the first one that will not be disputed between January and February. The championship is scheduled to start on June 15th and end on July 13rd, 2019. It will also be the first time that there will be a total of 24 teams competing.
