Benfica was in hell but arrived to paradise and overlooks the title

Portimonense was winning early in the second half, but the Reds were able to respond with two goals from Rafa that made the Benfica fans sigh with relief. There was a huge celebration with the thrashing that leaves the team of Bruno Lage only four points from the title.

Benfica was surprised by Portimonense this Saturday in the crowded Estádio da Luz. Bruno Lage's team was losing in the second half and the dream of the title was seriously threatened, but a reaction from the champion made the Reds able to comeback in the scoreboard, get out of hell, and enter the paradise that leaves them at the doors of the title, with a thrashing of 5-1 that in several phases of the game few would imagine to be possible.

With two games to go, Benfica now needs four points to celebrate the 37th national championship title. Bruno Lage completed a full round as the coach of the team and got the 16th victory in 17 games (only had one draw against Belenenses SAD), reaching 96 goals, which is the best attack of the Reds since 1972/ 73, being the fourth from the all time best in the championship for Benfica - the record is 103 (in 1963/ 64).
