The club has become friendly to the president, ignored the dictatorship years, and saw its fans remembering a political prisoner.

Three days after The Intercept Brasil released the first messages allegedly sent by former judge Sergio Moro (now Justice Minister) to public prosecutor Deltan Dallagnol, calling into question Moro's behavior as head of Operation Car Wash, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro took his minister to Mané Garrincha stadium in Brasilia, where they watched the Bazilian Cup match between CSA and Flamengo.

Photos of Flamengo directors with Moro and Bolsonaro were posted on the club's social media accounts. Some of the photos showed the president - who happens to be a Palmeiras and Botofogo fan - posing with a signed Flamengo jersey. The photos received criticism and praise, dragging the team - once again - to the vortex of Brazil's polarized political debate.
