In the opening match of the Women's World Cup, France, host of the competition, thrashed South Korea 4-0 at the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris. As expected, the French national team dominated the game. Wendie Renard was the player of the match, scoring two goals. Amandine Henry and Eugenie Le Sommer did the other two.
France's first goal came in the opening eight minutes when striker Le Sommer struck first after receiving Henry's right-footed cross and crossed low.
