Competition will replace the current format and will be played every four years.
FIFA announced today that it will reformulate the Club World Cup starting from 2021. The competition will be held every four years and will be attended by 24 teams.
The confirmation was made during an interview with FIFA president Gianni Infantino after a council meeting in Miami. The competition will debut in "June or July 2021" and enter the calendar as a substitute for the Confederations Cup, which will no longer be disputed. "We'll see a real tournament, which will crown the world champion of clubs," said Infantino.
