According to the mayor, management did not plan for a storm; at least 4 people died.
The mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Crivella (PRB), acknowledged on Tuesday (9) that his management failed to anticipate the rains of Monday (8) and avoid the flooding of the city's streets, mainly in the south.
Crivella said the Comlurb (Urban Cleanup Company) teams and the equipment necessary to clear the pluvial network only went out into the streets in the middle of the afternoon. According to the mayor, they got stuck in traffic and did not reach the most critical areas.
