Tik Tok micro-video social network tries to attract Brazilian audience

With viral fat cats and cowboys, the network competes with Instagram and Youtube.

You may have seen the video of the kitten clapping to Mr. Sandman by the Chordettes, or the challenge launched by rapper Lil Nas X, in which participants use a video trick to suddenly turn into cowboys.

Thse all came out of Tik Tok, a social network still little known to the Brazilian. The Chinese app has grown exponentially, both in number of users and revenue. In 2018, it was the fourth most downloaded application in the world, according to a survey by Sensor Tower.
