The Civil Police and the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro launched today (13) Operation Saigon to combat the "jogo do bicho."

During the action, the leaders of the gang, brothers Luis Anderson and Alexandre de Azeredo Coutinho, were arrested. Luis Anderson was arrested in the neighborhood of Icaraí, in Niterói, along with his wife, and Alexandre was detained in Cabo Frio. According to the police, the gang moved up to R$ 10 million a month.

The agents serve 23 arrest warrants and 35 search and seizure orders against individuals convicted of crimes of criminal organization and embezzlement, including civilian and military police. Investigations prove that the brothers corrupted public officials, especially Security Force officers. They also had the cooperation of police officers and former police officers.
