The Oil company Union Maritime announced today that its tanker Duke was attacked on the route between Angola and Togo by six sea pirates who kidnapped 20 Indian crew members.

"Our oil ship MT Duke was involved in a security incident on Sunday at 7 am; it was attacked and boarded while on a trip from Luanda, Angola, to Lome, Togo, with an oil cargo," the company announced in a statement quoted by the specialized press.

According to the maritime safety consultant Dryad Global, six pirates boarded the tanker and abducted 20 Indians who were crew members.

The company added in the statement that the crew's safety was the top priority and would cooperate with all relevant authorities to solve the issue as soon as possible.
