The Maputo-Katembe bridge, between the two shores of the Mozambican capital's bay, had no light for several hours between Monday night and today's early morning hours due to the theft of cables from the project's electrical system.

Luís Amado said that the robbery caused damages evaluated in a million meticais, but the light was restored by EDM technicians. The spokesman for the public power company deplored the situation, warning of the risks to drivers who had to cross the bridge in a scenario of complete darkness.
