Benguela province has a serious malnutrition rate, that has worsened considerably this year. Between January and May the department of public health recorded the death of 216 children suffering from this condition.
The number of malnourished children in Benguela has been increasing at an alarming rate. Just to give you an idea, in the first quarter of 2017 4911 children were diagnosed with malnutrition; in 2018, in the same period, the number doubled to 9654. Thus, in the first quarter of 2017 and 2018, respectively, 58 and 50 children under one year old have died, due to serious malnutrition.
