Pope Francis said that it is a "scandal" to go to church while "hating others" during his first general audience of 2019,
The Mass took place this morning, on January 2, in the Paul VI Hall, in the Vatican. "How many times do we see the scandal of those who go to church, stay there all day, every day, and then live their lives hating others or talking badly about people? This is a scandal, they live like atheists", he said.
According to Francis, if a believer goes to church, he must "live as a son and bear good witness". "There are people who can make atheistic prayers without God. They do this to be admired by men", he added, he also said that many Christians think that praying is "speaking to God as a parrot".
