Pope Francis announces summit about child abuse

The Catholic Church will debate how to protect children following the scandal of sexual abuse of minors by clergymen.

Pope Francis decided today to convene the presidents of the Catholic Church's Episcopal Conferences for a summit on child protection, to be held on February 21-24, 2019.

The announcement was made in a press release following the meeting of the C9, the group of cardinals who advise the Pope on structural reforms within the Church.
