Mozambique has so far received one third of the budgeted amount

The humanitarian response to Mozambique, following cyclone Idai and Kenneth, has so far received one-third of the budgeted amount, but is still among the most well-supported ongoing programs at the global level, according to the UN.

Mozambique received 32.5% of the USD440 million (USD340 million) requested (about EUR 392 million), a percentage surpassed only by crisis response support in Burkina Faso (37.5% of 100 MUSD) and Nigeria (41.5% of 136 MUSD) in a list of 35 countries and territories where humanitarian operations are carried out.

In all, foreseen budgets suffer from deficits above 50%, according to the May report of the Global Humanitarian Relief Fund (GHO), prepared by the United Nations and consulted by Lusa.
