Alert for fake phone calls on behalf of Microsoft

The National Center for Cybersecurity has warned, this Thursday, of a fraudulent campaign that is taking place in Portugal and that uses the name of the Microsoft company to deceive people.

According to the National Center for Cybersecurity (CNC), "There has been an increase in fraudulent phone calls on behalf of the Microsoft company, which encourages victims to install malware on their computer with the intention of stealing information and/or encrypt the contents of the machines and demanding a ransom."

These individuals also try to "access the details of the victims' credit cards by making them install malicious software in order to remotely access sensitive data," the CNC said.
