Americans are trying to control their behaviors at work, to protect themselves against what they see as political correctness.

No dinners with fellow women. No sitting beside them on the plane on business trips. Hotel rooms need to be booked on different floors. Meetings between two people should be avoided.

In fact, as a wealth management consultant says, hiring a woman nowadays is "an unknown risk." What if she understood something a fellow man said in the wrong way? In many Wall Street companies, men are adopting controversial strategies for the #MeToo era, and in the process, they make life even harder for women.
