Greek authorities point out "serious indications of criminal hand" on the fires

The Greek authorities said, on Thursday, that there were "serious indications" of criminal acts in the fires that occurred in the Mati area, 30 kilometers away from Athens, and that killed at least 82 people.

Greek Public Order Minister Nikos Toskas said that the analysis of satellite imagery and field investigations suggest that the flames began on Monday in several places, and in a short time, probably due to criminal acts.

"There are serious indications of criminal hand, but the investigations are still ongoing," Nikos Toskas said in a news conference, adding that a suspicious object was found in Mati, where most of the deaths occurred.
