The world has never produced as much cocaine or as much opium as it does today. People have never made so much non-medicinal use of prescription drugs, especially opioids, which led to the death of more than 63,000 people in the United States, in 2016.
And for the first time, the number of people over 50 who use and abuse of psychotropic substances has risen.
