Issuing a new passport costs 8.364.077,95 sovereign bolivars (179,74 euros), almost 28 months of full minimum wage (with all allowances included).

Venezuelan authorities have raised the price to obtain or renew a passport, an indispensable document for traveling abroad.

According to the Identification, Migration and Foreigners Administrative Service (SAIME), issuing a new passport costs 8.364.077,95 sovereign bolivars (179,74 euros), almost 28 months of full minimum wage (with all allowances included), which is 300,000 bolivars per month (6.44 euros at today's official exchange rate).
