France warns against using ibuprofen and asks for European study

The French Drug Agency (ANSM) issued a warning to doctors and patients about the risks of using Ibuprofen and Ketoprofen.

The ANSM said these medicines can aggravate infections and called for an EU investigation.

A spokesman for the ANSM (National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products) said this Friday that "the French request" will be analyzed by its European counterparts, Efe reports.

He pointed out that drug permissions are granted by the EU, not just by France, making it necessary to reassess the risk-benefit ratio of Ibuprofen and Ketoprofen on a European scale.
