A flight of stairs of the Eiffel Tower's original ladder, 4,3 meters high, 900 pounds and 24 steps, was sold at a Paris auction for 169,000 euros, three times the estimated value. Each step cost more than seven thousand euros.
The 129-year-old piece was part of a private Canadian collection and was sold at an Artcurial auction to a Middle Eastern collector. The estimate was that it would be sold for a value between 40 thousand and 60 thousand euros.
