At least 24 people were killed this Thursday in an animation studio devastated by a seemingly criminal fire in the city of Kyoto, Japan, according to local authorities.

According to the AFP news agency, the death toll in the fire rose from 13 to at least 24 after the discovery of more dead people in the building, according to fire department officials.

Flames broke out in the three-story building after a 41-year-old man have sprinkled an unidentified liquid that trigged the blaze, police and fire brigade sources in Kyoto said.
