FBI to help recover Angola's stolen money

The United States vow to have the Justice Department, the FBI and other institutions collaborating with the Angolan Government in locating and recovering the money and other assets that have been stolen from the country.

The promise was made yesterday in Luanda by US Assistant Secretary of State John Sullivan, during a meeting with journalists. John Sullivan said that the US wants to bring the corrupt to justice and recover the assets that have been stolen from Angola and are now hidden in the US or in other parts of the world.

"We have trained staff, researchers and prosecutors who can help the Angolan Government recover these assets and return them to their real owners, the Angolan people," said the diplomat, who also expressed his "satisfaction and enthusiasm" with President João Lourenço's commitment in the fight against corruption and impunity.
