Minister Edson Fachin, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), rejected a habeas corpus on Friday (3rd) for the benefit of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
The action had been filed by 29 lawyers from Piauí, without the participation of the PT's defense, and was based on reducing the penalty in the "triplex case" asking for the release of the former agent.
Last month, the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) reduced the sentence against Lula of 12 years and a month for eight years and 10 months of jail. According to lawyers, that would be enough to immediately transfer the former president to the semi-open regime.
