A total of 355.892 families were affected by the impact of severe drought in the provinces of Cunene, Huila, Namibe, Cuando Cubango, Benguela and Kwanza-Sul and 41 people died in 2019 due to heavy rainfall.

revealed Minister of Interior Eugénio Laborinho, yesterday, in Luanda. The official was speaking during the first meeting of the National Civil Protection Commission, which aimed at analyzing the present rainy season, damages and losses, degree of intervention, support provided, available and used means.

Eugénio Laborinho said the impacts of the drought also caused damage in 488 locations, affecting 1.789.376 people, 2.246.050 bovine animals, 1.200.000 goats and sheep, as well as causing the deaths of 30,823 animals.
This situation has mostly affected rural residents, which has hampered the development of agriculture and animal husbandry, thus leading to a shortage of economic resources and food. This lead to hunger and misery.
