Deforestation and Amazon fires to be investigated
The number of fires in Brazil has increased by 70% this year. The Amazon is the most affected region.
The Brazilian Public Prosecution Office has announced that it will investigate the increase in deforestation and the fires that are consuming the Amazon rain forest in Brazil.
Federal prosecutors want to determine if there has also been a reduction in monitoring and enforcement of the environmental protection measures in the region.
